The UAE mission to the United Nations said, "This illegal and disturbing escalation is another step in the Houthis' efforts to spread terrorism and chaos in our region."
The UAE mission to the United Nations called in a letter to the Security Council, on Tuesday, to categorically condemn the Houthi attacks.
The UAE mission to the United Nations said, "This illegal and disturbing escalation is another step in the Houthis' efforts to spread terrorism and chaos in our region."
"We call on the Security Council to speak with one voice and join in the firm and unequivocal condemnation of these terrorist attacks, which were launched in complete disregard of international law," the mission added.
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned the Houthi attack on Abu Dhabi International Airport and the adjacent industrial zone, and called on "all parties to exercise maximum restraint," according to his spokesman.
Spokesman Stephane Dujarric said that Guterres asked the Houthis to "prevent any escalation in the context of increasing tensions in the region," recalling that "attacks against civilians or civilian infrastructure are prohibited under international humanitarian law."
The European Union considered that the Houthi attack increases the risk of an escalation of the conflict in Yemen and undermines efforts to end the war.
On Monday, Abu Dhabi Police confirmed the outbreak of a fire, which led to an explosion in 3 petroleum tanks in the Musaffah Icad 3 area, near ADNOC's tanks, in addition to a minor fire accident in the new construction area at Abu Dhabi International Airport.
The fire led to the death of 3 people, "Indian and a Pakistani", and injured 6 in the explosion of fuel tanks in Abu Dhabi, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).
Preliminary investigations indicated that small flying objects were detected, possibly belonging to drones, that fell in the two areas, which may have caused the explosion and fire.
For its part, the Houthi militia claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack, according to a spokesman for the "Reuters" agency.
