An earthquake measuring 3 on the Richter scale hit the Greek capital Athens, followed by several aftershocks that were felt by the residents, Russia Today reported.
According to the Seismological Center of the University of Athens, the epicenter of the tremor was at a depth of 6.0 km and 7.9 km northwest of Athens.
The tremor occurred at 15:52 on Monday afternoon, as residents of the northern suburbs of the Greek capital felt strong and short aftershocks.
Last Wednesday, an earthquake hit the Greek island of Crete, and was the latest in a series of tremors to hit the region, following a 5.8-magnitude earthquake on September 27.
The Greek newspaper "Katimirini" quoted the "Geodynamic Institute" in Athens as saying that the earthquake had a magnitude of 4.3, and it occurred at 5:44 am, local time, five kilometers northeast of the town of "Arkalochouri" in the "Iraklio" region on Depth of 11.7 km.
